What To Do Before During and After Custom Spray Tan

Before

Preparation is key to achieving a flawless spray tan. Before your appointment, exfoliate your skin thoroughly to remove any dead skin cells. Pay extra attention to rough areas like elbows, knees, and ankles. Avoid applying lotions, perfumes, or deodorants on the day of your tan, as these can create a barrier that affects the tanning solution. Wear loose, dark clothing to your appointment to avoid any potential staining.

During

During your spray tan session, follow the technician's instructions to ensure an even application. Stand still and in the proper positions as guided, allowing the technician to reach all areas of your body. Feel free to ask questions or request adjustments during the process. The application is quick and typically takes only a few minutes, after which you should avoid touching your skin to allow the tan to set evenly.

After

Once your spray tan is complete, allow the solution to dry thoroughly before getting dressed. For the first 6-8 hours, avoid showering, sweating, or applying any products to your skin to allow the tan to develop fully. After your initial rinse, moisturize daily to extend the life of your tan and maintain even fading. Avoid exfoliating until you’re ready for your next session to keep your tan looking its best for as long as possible.

About Botulinum Therapy

Xeomin ®  and Daxxify ® are neurotoxins derived from Clostridium botulinum, an organism found in the natural environment where it is largely inactive and non-toxic. When injected into the facial muscle, Xeomin ® and Daxxify ® temporarily paralyzes the muscle, blocking its ability to contract. This contraction paralysis causes the pull of the underlying facial muscles to relax, wrinkles to soften and flatten, and reveals a smooth unwrinkled appearance.

Candidates for
Botulinum Therapy

  • Are at least 18 years of age
  • Is in good health
  • Has wrinkles or fine lines that are more noticeable when they move their face
  • Has realistic expectations about what Botox can achieve

About Injections

Is Botox® safe?

Yes,  Xeomin® and Daxxify® is completely safe for wrinkle reduction and prevention when the recommended FDA dosage is administered.

Which areas can be treated?

Medical Aesthetics by Lacey uses Xeomin ® and Daxxify ® to treat horizontal forehead creases, vertical lines between the brows (“11’s”), crows feet, chin creases, and sagging corners of the mouth. She also uses Xeomin ® and Daxxify ® injections to provide lip flips, gummy smile treatments, spa brow lifts, neck lifts, TMJ relief, and trapezius muscle relaxation.

How long will my botox injections last?

The effects from Xeomin ® will last, on average, three to four months. Daxxify ® can last up to 9 months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear and will need to be treated again. It takes consistent injections throughout the year to maintain the smooth, youthful appearance that is desired. Clinical studies suggest that after several rounds of treatment, the patient may require injections less often.

Will I have downtime?

There is minimal downtime after injections. You may have pin point injection site redness and/or pinpoint bruising which typically resolves within 24-72 hours. You can return to your everyday activities after treatment but be aware you are not to exercise for 24 hours after or lay flat for 4 hours after your treatment.

How long will the treatment take?

The actual injection process takes a quick 2-3 minutes but your first, initial appointment will take approximately 30 minutes. We will discuss your treatment goals and perform a facial analysis to determine the appropriate treatment areas for you. Some clients report that being injected with Xeomin® or Daxxify®  feels like a pinch, others do not feel much at all.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects of Xeomin® and Daxxify® are minimal, with slight discomfort upon injection of the solution. One percent of patients develop a slight lowering of one eyelid and, also rarely, asymmetry of facial expression. These effects are temporary and may not even be noticed by the client. When the neurotoxin begins to wear off, the wrinkles begin to reappear; however, they frequently are not as deep as the original ones.

When will I see results?

Most clients begin to notice an effect three to five days after their injections, with full results becoming visible after 14 days.

How is Daxxify ® different?

Unlike Botox®, Xeomin®, and other neuromodulators, the botulinum toxin in Daxxify® is combined with a small lab-made protein called a peptide. These peptides help Daxxify™ bind to the targeted facial nerves more tightly than other neuromodulators for longer-lasting results and faster onset. Daxxify® has a typical duration of 24 weeks, while other neuromodulators typically last around 80-100 days. Additionally, Daxxify ® may show its effects as early as 3 days, whereas other neuromodulators take around 6-7 days for results to start.The primary advantage of Daxxify® is that it offers a reduced frequency of required treatments. This can be important for busy individuals and also result in cost savings. Most Daxxify® users spend 75% of what their Botox®-using counterparts spend.You are a candidate for Daxxify ® if you are a candidate for Botox®, Xeomin®, and other neuromodulators.

About Lip Fillers

Versa Lips ® is a clear gel-like substance composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally exists in the body. While hearing the word “acid” may sound scary, hyaluronic acid isn’t harsh or damaging at all, in fact it’s the opposite. Within the human body, large amounts of hyaluronic acid are found between the cells, where it provides skin with its youthful suppleness and moisture. Unfortunately, our bodies own natural levels of hyaluronic acid decrease with age. Due to the decrease in hyaluronic acid as we age, combined with other factors, the facial muscles become closer to the surface of the skin, resulting in the increased appearance of wrinkles. When you receive a treatment with Versa Lips ®, the lost hyaluronic acid is added back into the skin, restoring the lost volume to smooth those unsightly wrinkles or add fullness to thin lips. The results are subtle and long-lasting.

Are there any reasons why I should not be treated with Versa Lips ® injectable fillers?

  • Patients who have a history of severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis), or if you are allergic to lidocaine.
  • Patients on immunosuppressive therapy
  • Patients who are using products that can prolong bleeding (such as aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, and blood thinners)
  • Patients with an active infection.
  • Patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation. If you have a history of cancer, you must be in remission for 2 years prior to treatment
  • Patients with the following conditions: Myasthenia Gravis, Hepatitis, Numbness, Vision Problems, Parkinson’s Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Eye Disease, Autoimmune Disease, Muscle Weakness, Eaton Lambert Disorder, or Multiple Sclerosis
  • Patients who have had cosmetic/plastic surgery within the last year.

About The Treatment

Will the treatment hurt?

Versa Lips ® injectable gels contain pain-reducing lidocaine to help manage pain or discomfort during the injection. A topical numbing cream will also be applied to your face/lips prior to injection.

What to expect

Actual treatment with Versa Lips ® injectable gels can take up to 60 minutes and you will see results instantly. It is normal and very common for swelling and mild bruising to occur anywhere from 2-14 days after treatment. Detailed post care instructions will be provided at your visit. It will take approximately 14 days for the hyaluronic acid to settle within the dermal layer of your skin. You will receive a 2 week follow up appointment to assess the treatment area. It is recommended to give yourself at least 4 weeks time before a major event or vacation prior to being injected with Versa Lips ® injectable fillers.

How long will filler last?

Versa Lips ® results can last up to 1 year, with 6 months being the average.

Pre-treatment instructions

Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Tylenol, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, Blood Thinners, St Johns Wart, and prednisone can cause a reaction to dermal filler injections. If you are prescribed any of these medications, you must be cleared by your prescribing physician to stop the medication prior to injection. If you are taking any of the medications listed above that are non-prescriptive or “over the counter” you must stop taking 7 days prior to your treatment.
Do not consume alcohol the night before your treatment.If you have a history of cold sores/ oral herpes simplex 1, please let Lacey know as she may need to prescribe an oral antiviral to take 5 days prior to your treatment. Cosmetic injectables can stimulate an outbreak.

About The Treatment

How is Sculptra different from other dermal fillers?

The main difference between Sculptra and Fillers is the production of collagen. Fillers do not elicit a natural response in your body to produce collagen, unlike Sculptra. Fillers, like Versa, are made with hyaluronic acid and designed to immediately fill in wrinkled areas to improve volume.

Will the treatment hurt?

Sculptra injections are very tolerable. The injections cause mild, very temporary discomfort, and feel similar to a slight pinching sensation. A “pushing and pulling” sensation with some pressure is typically felt. Sculptra is pre-mixed with lidocaine. However, a topical numbing agent can be applied prior to injections, to ease any discomfort.

How many vials of Sculptra will I need?

The general guideline in the aesthetic industry is to use one vial of Sculptra® per decade of life. For instance, if you are in your 30s, three vials would be the starting point, while someone in their 50s might start with five vials. This rule provides a baseline for achieving noticeable yet subtle improvements.Generally, two vials of Sculptra are injected per session with sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart. The exact amount of Sculptra® required depends on how much volume you want to add and the areas you have treated. Medical Aesthetics by Lacey will assess your needs and determine how many vials of Sculptra® you may need for treatment.

How long does it take to work? How long does it last?

You may see immediate results for 24 hours after being injected with Sculptra; however, these results are temporary. Sculptra does not provide a filling action. Rather, as Sculptra stimulates collagen results will gradually be seen over a few months.

What is the recovery process?

After your Sculptra injections, mild swelling, soreness, red bumps or bruising may appear after injections. Any redness tends to dissipate shortly after treatment and makeup can be gently applied. Bruising and swelling may last up to 48-72 hours after injections. You may experience tenderness at the injection site for a few days after your treatment.

IMPORTANT

You must massage each treated area, FIVE minutes, FIVE times each day, for FIVE days. Arnica gel may be used for massage to help reduce bruising, pain and swelling. Massage may be easiest when you are cleansing or moisturizing your face.

Versa + ® is a clear gel-like substance composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally exists in the body. While hearing the word “acid” may sound scary, hyaluronic acid isn’t harsh or damaging at all, in fact it’s the opposite. Within the human body, large amounts of hyaluronic acid are found between the cells, where it provides skin with its youthful suppleness and moisture. Unfortunately, our bodies own natural levels of hyaluronic acid decrease with age. Due to the decrease in hyaluronic acid as we age, combined with other factors, the facial muscles become closer to the surface of the skin, resulting in the increased appearance of wrinkles. When you receive a treatment with Versa + ®, the lost hyaluronic acid is added back into the skin, restoring the lost volume to smooth those unsightly wrinkles or add fullness to thin lips. The results are subtle and long-lasting.

Are there any reasons why I should not be treated with Versa + ® injectable fillers?

  • Patients who have a history of severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis), or if you are allergic to lidocaine.
  • Patients on immunosuppressive therapy
  • Patients who are using products that can prolong bleeding (such as aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, and blood thinners)
  • Patients with an active infection.
  • Patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation. If you have a history of cancer, you must be in remission for 2 years prior to treatment
  • Patients with the following conditions: Myasthenia Gravis, Hepatitis, Numbness, Vision Problems, Parkinson’s Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Eye Disease, Autoimmune Disease, Muscle Weakness, Eaton Lambert Disorder, or Multiple Sclerosis
  • Patients who have had cosmetic/plastic surgery within the last year.

About The Treatment

Will the treatment hurt?

Versa + ® injectable gels contain pain-reducing lidocaine to help manage pain or discomfort during the injection. A topical numbing cream will also be applied to your face prior to injection.

What to expect

Actual treatment with Versa + ® injectable gels can take up to 60 minutes and you will see results instantly. It is normal and very common for swelling and mild bruising to occur anywhere from 2-14 days after treatment. Detailed post care instructions will be provided at your visit. It will take approximately 14 days for the hyaluronic acid to settle within the dermal layer of your skin. You will receive a 2 week follow up appointment to assess the treatment area. It is recommended to give yourself at least 4 weeks time before a major event or vacation prior to being injected with Versa +® injectable fillers.

How long will filler last?

Versa + ® results can last up to 1 year, with 6 months being the average.

Pre-treatment instructions

Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Tylenol, Fish Oil, Vitamin E, Blood Thinners, St Johns Wart, and prednisone can cause a reaction to dermal filler injections. If you are prescribed any of these medications, you must be cleared by your prescribing physician to stop the medication prior to injection. If you are taking any of the medications listed above that are non-prescriptive or “over the counter” you must stop taking 7 days prior to your treatment.
Do not consume alcohol the night before your treatment. If you have a history of cold sores/ oral herpes simplex 1, please let Lacey know as she may need to prescribe an oral antiviral to take 5 days prior to your treatment. Cosmetic injectables can stimulate an outbreak.
